WNS layoff employees using USE & THROW policy
WNS has recently terminated a number of employees including contract and permanent staff. Most of the employees which where hired on contract basis was given the assurance of being made permanent after six months. The company have definitely saved a lot of taxes and other money by hiring people on contract and that too at a less wage.
One of the well known process operational in WNS from last 16-17 years is British Airways. WNS started outsourcing by British Airways as its back-office operations early in 1996 in Mumbai.
The employees were recntly hired on a large number due to british Airways IT outage in May 2017. A contractor doing maintenance work at British Airways data center inadvertendly switched off the power supply, knocking out the airlines computer systems & leaving 75,000 people stranded at the airports. A huge number of flights were got cancelled causing disruption. This disruption resulted in huge number of undelivered email backlog.
One of the staff named rajith bhaskar (name changed) says “its one of the cheapest company he have seen ever. You may find coffee machines around but no cups. Company asks employees to bring cups from home in the name of eco friendliness. While adding ” where eco friendliness goes when you put these ACs on putting a hole to ozone layer”. Another employee named abhi tiwari(name changed) adds “these are the cost saving strategy by CEO Murugesh”. He is waiting for the day company asks to bring tissue paper on own for using washrooms inside the company. He also adds by hiring people on contract, company puts 8-10k in their pocket for each employee. They don’t value people, they value money.
WNS hired a number of employees giving assurance of being made permanent after six months.
